I started listening in the dark, before the sun came up. I sat there crying out to God for insight and revelation on what He is doing right now. As He began to speak, I wasn’t sure I liked it. But as He continued to unfold the word, it made sense and I saw His goodness in it all. By the time we were finished, the sun had risen above the horizon and light flooded my office and my neighborhood. I believe this is a prophetic picture of what God is doing right now. It seems dark at this moment, but His light is moving just below the horizon and very soon it will burst forth into plain view for all to see. Here’s what I’m hearing from the Father today.
The Father is pouring out His discipline upon this land, but it is not punishment. There’s a difference. This generation is getting set free from entitlement. (In this post, “generation” means “everyone who’s alive right now”, not referring to any particular age.) We needed a reset, a shaking up. We got too comfortable and did not feel our desperate need for Him. God did not originate this virus, and in fact He hates this virus, but He’s allowed it to proceed unchecked because of the way it is changing this generation. This generation was self-centered. It is changing already to be more focused on the safety of others. The older generation was not valued. Now, people are going to great lengths to protect the older generation. Families were splintered and going many different directions. Now, families are living together in unity, with the common bond of survival. He is returning the hearts of the fathers to their children. There is an outpouring of His Spirit upon this land, but it looks different from what anyone thought it would. But that’s how He is. People thought the Messiah would come as a conquering military king, but He surprised them with a gentle carpenter who was like a lamb to the slaughter. People thought His Spirit poured out would look like revival meetings, but instead, it looks like family. It looks like the personal, private worship of individuals all over the globe, rising up to form a sweet incense before Him. The atmosphere is actually getting sweeter over the earth, due to all the worship and prayers rising. His people are activating angelic activity throughout the planet as our prayers and worship fall in line with HIs will.
He will set us free. He is exposing hidden strongholds of fear and anxiety that always existed. But He wants more for His people than to constantly live under the shadow of this demonic oppression. He never leaves things hidden that need to be exposed. Because He loves His people, He is bringing to light the ways we’ve been living as slaves, even though He’s already purchased our freedom. Jesus died on the cross so that His people never need live in anxiety or fear. Never. He wants to mature His people to a place where we recognize fear and anxiety immediately and we do not tolerate it any longer. His people have authority to bind anxiety and loose peace. He wants His people to become warriors for peace. He wants us to have a zero-tolerance policy for fear and anxiety. What you tolerate, stays. Children, do not tolerate these strongholds any longer! Take authority over them in Jesus’ name. Do it over and over again if you need to. But the old ways aren’t working anymore. He is not looking for a people who are good at coping; He is looking for a people who live in FREEDOM and walk in POWER! He is looking for a people who have fought for their peace and can then release peace to others.
The time has come. It is the refining and maturing of the Bride into a thing of beauty. He has called His Bride to freedom for such a time as this. He wants His people to learn how to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Jesus Christ. He wants us to become experts at identifying the source of our thoughts: is it based on truth, or a lie? Is it from God, me, or from the enemy? He wants His people to force every lie to bow its knee to the lordship of Jesus Christ. He wants a people who intentionally clothe themselves with the armor of God each and every day. This season is like boot camp.
It’s time to become experts at freedom.
It’s time to become experts at living in peace that is above circumstances.
One definition of “boot camp” is “a short, intensive, and rigorous course of training”. We can be encouraged that this season will be short; but the intensity of the season will make it feel long. This is our chance to learn the skills and tools of freedom so we can be freedom-bringers to others. Regional spirits of anxiety and fear have long been hidden; but He’s now exposing them to the light, where they will lose their power.
I’m sitting here watching the sun rise over Oregon City as I type this. It reminds me of how good He is. His light always shines brightest in the darkness. When you place a lamp inside a small enclosed space, it actually magnifies the light. Our hearts and homes are small enclosed spaces, and the light of His truth and presence is flooding in. It’s being magnified as all our coping mechanisms fail us and we have no recourse but Him. His power. His goodness. His peace.
As we turn our hearts and affections towards Jesus, let’s focus on what He’s already accomplished at the cross. Let’s focus on His victory over sin, disease, death, fear, anxiety, and everything else. As we focus on the beauty of Jesus and His light and love in our homes, the atmosphere is changing in our neighborhoods and cities and nations. The atmosphere is growing sweeter by the day with the prayers and praises of His people.
38 And he also says,
“My righteous ones will live from my faith.
But if fear holds them back,
my soul is not content with them!”
39 But we are certainly not those who are held back by fear and perish; we are among those who have faith and experience true life! – Hebrews 10:38-39 TPT
So we are going to continue to worship and praise, in faith. We are going to war for our peace. We are going to command fear and anxiety to go, as many times a day as necessary, and invite the Holy Spirit to replace them with His peace. We are going to become so good at it that pretty soon the devil leaves us alone and we just live in a state of peace all day and all night. We are not of those who “shrink back” (as the NIV puts it) but those who “have faith and are saved”. We are children who are maturing into adults. Kids who are becoming warriors. People once in darkness who have now seen a glorious light. People who live, walk, eat, and breathe in freedom. We are peace-carriers and peace-givers. We are free.
